Bushfire Shutters Adelaide Hills
Tell us which windows and doors you want protected and your enquiry goes to one local provider, who measures up and quotes in writing. CSIRO says non-combustible shutters offer protection against flame contact, embers and strikes from flying objects; it does not say a shutter makes a house safe.
Thanks — we have your enquiry. Someone will be in touch shortly. Prefer to talk now? Call (08) 8330 4909.
- Each enquiry goes to one independent provider for the Adelaide Hills, not to a list of firms that all ring you.
- We do not fit shutters. The provider inspects, then names the price.
- Every call opens with a notice that it may be recorded.

Bushfire Shutters services in the Adelaide Hills

Before you get a quote
Four things to know first
- Shutters are one part of the house CSIRO's Bushfire best practice guide calls windows and doors another vulnerable part of the house, and says non-combustible shutters offer protection against flame contact, embers and strikes from flying objects. It does not say a shutter makes a house safe.
- Fit and material matter The guide says shutter systems should be tight fitting with gaps less than 2mm to avoid ember entry, and made with non-combustible material. It says to avoid plastic shutters, which melt.
- Check whether approval is needed The Country Fire Service says that if you are changing a window or roof you need to check with your local council or building certifier whether any approvals are needed.
- Ask who is authorised South Australia's Building Work Contractors Act 1995 bars carrying on business as a building work contractor except as authorised under it. This site has read no page saying whether fitting shutters is covered, so ask whoever quotes.
Three steps
From enquiry to quote
- Tell us about the house Which windows and doors you want protected, what the house is made of, and whether you already know its BAL.
- It is passed on Your enquiry goes to one independent local provider covering the Adelaide Hills. The provider pays for the introduction; you never do.
- A provider inspects and quotes The provider measures the openings and prices the work in writing. The price is theirs to set.
Bushfire Shutters across the Adelaide Hills
The Country Fire Service lists Stirling, Uraidla and Woodside among the Adelaide Hills Council's Bushfire Safer Places, and says: Even if your property is located within a Bushfire Safer Place you should prepare your home and undertake appropriate bushfire safety measures on your property. A listing is about a place, not about your house.
